Sakkal Kitab is a feature-rich, traditionally based text Naskh typeface for Arabic, Persian, and Urdu languages. It is distinguished by its high legibility in print and on screen, modern flair, cursive connections, and streamlined ligatures. It is designed for setting long texts such as books, hence the typeface name ‘Kitab’ the Arabic word for book. Sakkal Kitab family has 5 weights, each with 5 levels of calligraphic cursive connections to make documents more readable and aid in achieving balanced text color and line justification. The typeface has a large number of alternate letter-forms and ligatures for a classic, more calligraphic look. Other features include well-positioned vowel marks, kerning throughout, multiple traditional honorific ligatures, and proper swashes and tatweel (stretch) cursive connections.
